Makeup expressions using illustration have been consumed frequently. Therefore, the skin color appearance has been studied in a variety of fields, because of increasing various media. Among those fields, the personal color, which made use of color harmony based on human skin color, has become popular in Korean beauty fashion industries. Although illustration facial images have been used in the beauty fashion industries for showing effects of makeup, examples of analysis in terms of color science were hard to find. In this study, the purpose is analysis of makeup expressions on illustration face image in terms of color science, based on skin color classification in the personal color analysis.
In three experiments, (1) the distinction between no-makeup skin color and makeup skin color on illustration images, (2) the skin color appearance of illustration facial images with point makeup through color matching test, (3) effects of face perception through the comparison between illustration facial images and mosaic patterns including skin color, were investigated.
As a result, base-makeup images on illustration face were similar to the concept of blue-base in the personal color. And strong effects of memory colors could be considered, because light skin colors were preferred as makeup images. Effects of point-makeup were clarified on illustration facial images, because the skin color appearance was changed through a variety of makeup styles. Moreover, point-makeup was effective on only facial images. Through psychophysical experiments based on the personal color, possibilities of makeup expression on illustration could be verified. Applications, applied to effects of makeup expression on illustration, would be made a proposal.
