To gain understanding of the EEDF, a computational method is being created to determine the EEDF of a non-equilibrium atmospheric pressure argon discharge plasma. For this, the continuum spectrumobtained by optical emission spectroscopy, originating from electron-atom bremsstrahlung is taken as input data. A genetic algorithm is used to reconstruct the EEDF from this emissivity data. Both random and non-random function generations are used to create a population of possible solutions where properties of known EEDF are used as fitness function to find the optimal solution. Results show that, although not optimal yet, accurate reconstruction of the EEDF is considered to be possibleusing a genetic algorithm.
