アブストラクト Angles used in the steel towers are commonly connected by bolts and lap joint is used. Lap joint will generate an eccentricity; secondary bending moment due to this eccentricity will be subjected to the member and affect to the strength. However, design formula that can evaluate the effect of eccentricity is not shown clearly. To clarify this issue, firstly, full scale testing are conducted. Secondly, flexural buckling strength than can evaluate the difference of bending stiffness of connected angles and the eccentricity of lap joint is derived. Finally, effective slenderness ratio of the angle member with lap joint is proposed.
