アブストラクト Square steel tubular columns have been widely used in Japan; seismic loads are significant in designing a column. The design formulas for columns that are specified in current recommendation are based on the test results of H-shaped steel columns; therefore, it is questionable that these formulas can be directly applied in square tubular columns. From this background, it is necessary to clarify the deformation capacity of square steel tubular columns under constant axial force with bending moment. For this purpose, full scale tests of square steel tubular columns are conducted. The effects of axial force ratio, material property and loading pattern on the elasto-plastic behaviour of the columns are clarified in this paper.
