アブストラクト This paper devises a design method for high-rise base-isolated building combined with active structural control (ASC) taking response displacement as the design target. One important prob-lems for applying ASC to buildings is that the relationship between control force and responses of a control system are uncertain. Therefore, the design of a controller mainly uses a trial-and-error approach, which requires great demands of numerical simulation. To solve this problem, a method for estimating the control force and response displacement under along-wind force with-out numerical simulation is developed in this paper. The key idea of the method is that to devise a theoretical method for calculating the mean control force and men responses of a control sys-tem. The maximum control force and responses are estimated by the gust factor. Therefore, the gust factor of control force and response displacement is also investigated considering different base-isolated periods. Numerical simulations validate the efficacy of the method.
