A system for natural color reproduction has been developed in order to reproduce the original color of the object in telemedicine system. In this method, illumination difference between image capturing site and observing site is corrected, and natural color image is reproduced using multispectral image. To apply the method to practical telemedicine system, we develop a method to reduce the number of color bands of camera, as well as a simple method to acquire the illumination condition. Concrete way for practical use in telemedicine system is also investigated. Color reproduction experiment using human hands show the effectiveness of the proposed methods. Through the experimental results, the relationship between estimated color error and the number of color bands are also examined.
