Abstract To estimate the seismic performance in the difference of the arrangement situation of the hysteretic dampers which have a lot of influence for the vibration control effects, it is necessary to carry out many time-history analyses. However, it is difficult to comprehensively understand the relationship between the damper arrangement and vibration control effect from only the time-history analysis results. This paper proposes the vibration control performance evaluation method based on the absorbed energy without using the time-history analyses. This method can estimate of the best configuration pattern of dampers, and it is very effective for seismic control design.
