Abstract Transition-metal-catalyzed hydroalkynylative cross-trimerizations of terminal alkynes with unsatd. compds. are highly efficient and atom-economical methods for the synthesis of alkynyl-substituted linear carbon scaffolds. The trimerization of three different unsatd. compds. is the challenging theme due to the difficulty of the chemo-, regio- and stereoselectivity control. Esp., a synthesis of conjugated enynes by the coupling of terminal alkynes, alkynes, and alkenes has not been reported to date. Herein, we report a cationic rhodium(I)-catalyzed linear cross-trimerization of silylacetylenes, alkynyl esters, and electron-deficient alkenes giving conjugated enynes. [on SciFinder(R)]
