Abstract
Disclosed is prepn. method of an epoxy compd., characterized by reaction of an olefin with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a tungsten compd. and a nitrogen-contg. compd. (wherein, pKa of conjugate acid of the nitrogen-contg. comound is 1.5-11.5). For example, to a soln. of tetrahydroindene (THI; 1 mmol) in acetonitrile (5 mL) were added imidazole (5 mol% with respect to THI), 30% hydrogen peroxide (2 equiv with respect to THI) and {(n-C6H13)4N}3[PO4{WO(O2)2}4] (2.5 mol% with respect to THI), the resulting mixt. was stirred [800 rpm, 323 K, 24 h] and analyzed by GC to show the prepn. of diepoxy compd. in 86% yield with 99% conversion ratio of THI.
