Abstract The asymptotic phase is a fundamental quantity for analyzing classical limit-cycle oscillators. In this study, we introduce a definition of the asymptotic phase for stochastic and quantum nonlinear oscillators by using the eigenfunction of the Koopman operator associated with the fundamental oscillation frequency. Our definition of the asymptotic phase can be used for analyzing synchronization of stochastic and quantum nonlinear oscillators.
