Abstract The vibrational and rotational temperatures in argon/nitrogen mixed atmospheric-pressure non-equilibrium plasma were determined through optical emission spectroscopy measurement and the fitting of calculated and experimental spectra. The results revealed a decreasing trend in rotational temperatures as the nitrogen rate increased. In addition, it was observed that the trends in vibrational and rotational temperatures changed at the discharge voltage approximately 7.2 kV.
