Abstract In a high-rise building with a large bending deformation, the damping performance of middle to upper dampers may be deteriorated. To improve the deterioration of damping performance, a “combination-system” (Highrise building with hysteretic dampers and viscous dampers) is proposed. However, there is very little research on a response prediction method for “combination-system”. This paper presents a response prediction method and performance evaluation for “combination-system”. Accuracy of this prediction method is validated by comparing the predicted values with the time history analysis results. The performance curve is derived through the calculation process of the prediction method.
