The purpose of this study is to consider the estimation method of true color distribution on outer walls from pictures. On the examination of a soiling or a view of outer walls, taking pictures is the means of frequently used. However, the method of easily extracting the color distribution of outer walls from pictures isn’t established. Our estimation method is to take the pictures of color charts along with the walls of buildings. We thought that the Y values on building materials can be estimated by the Y values in the color charts on the picture. For contemplating the accuracy of estimation method of color distribution of outer walls, the estimation method was applied to a wide variety of building materials. Considering the conditions for photographing, the Y value of materials, and the gloss of the surface of materials, we confirmed the estimated accuracy of the method.
