The structural-seismic safety is evaluated by the amount of plasticity energy. The earthquake-resistant structural calculation based on energy balance (Energy-based method) has been established in 2005, and Energy-based method is able to evaluate the amount of plasticity energy. Energy-based method is estimated the safe side for the main structure by underestimating the plasticity energy of the response of main structure remains in elastic range. In the case of the response control structure under a level 2 earthquake, the main structure is designed to remain in elastic range. Therefore, in the case of the response control structure under a level 2 earthquake is predicted the seismic response by applying Energy-based method, the tendency of the evaluation of the safety for the main structure becomes pronounced.
This paper presents the energy distribution using Energy-based method. In this method, the damage-causing energy used in energy-based seismic design is distributed according to the states of main structure. The problem of Energy-based method is clarified by comparing the energy distribution obtained by the time history analysis.
