Catalytic epoxidn. by a dinuclear peroxotungstate was dramatically accelerated by the addn. of 0.5 equiv of an acid, and a novel tetranuclear peroxotungstate, TPA2[{WO(O2)2}2(ﾎｼ-O)] (I), was successfully synthesized by the reaction of [{WO(O2)2}2(ﾎｼ-O)]2- with an acid. I showed high catalytic activity for the selective oxidn. of various kinds of alkenes, sulfides and amines and a silane with 1.0 - 1.5 equiv. of H2O2. [on SciFinder(R)]
