These measurements were performed using <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>p</mml:mi><mml:mi>p</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula> collision data corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.5 and <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mn>20.3</mml:mn><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>fb</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>-</mml:mo><mml:mn>1</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula> at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, respectively, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H</mml:mi><mml:mo stretchy="false">→</mml:mo><mml:mi>Z</mml:mi><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>Z</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>*</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:msup><mml:mo stretchy="false">→</mml:mo><mml:mn>4</mml:mn><mml:mo>ℓ</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula> signal is observed with a significance of 8.1 standard deviations, with an expectation of 6.2 standard deviations, at <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>m</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:msub></mml:mrow><mml:mo>=</mml:mo><mml:mn>125.36</mml:mn><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mi>GeV</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula>, the combined ATLAS measurement of the Higgs boson mass from the <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H</mml:mi><mml:mo stretchy="false">→</mml:mo><mml:mi>γ</mml:mi><mml:mi>γ</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula> and <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H</mml:mi><mml:mo
