Abstract In the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, suspended ceiling of school gymnasium fell down due to the lack of their resistance to earthquake. A dynamic behavior of wide-area roofs at earthquake affects ceiling has not been clarified yet. To clarify a real phenomenon, full-scale shake table experiment of full-scale steel gymnasium model was conducted. This paper discusses experimental result about the structure of the full-scale steel gymnasium model caused by earthquakes. Main focus of this paper is natural frequency and damages of steel gymnasium model and elasto-plastic responses of rafter roofs. The result in the paper are summarized as follows: It depends on a brace having done plasticity, the drop of the natural frequency.
