SS 433 was observed by Ginga for five days, and a drop in X-ray intensity centered at the phase of the optical primary minimum was detected. It is concluded that this episode was most likely an eclipse of the X-ray emitting region near the compact object by the companion star. A geometrical analysis of the binary system indicates that the X-ray source is either a fat blue-shifted jet originating from a compact object with a mass larger than 8 solar masses or, alternatively, a thin two-sided jet originating from a compact object with a mass less than 4 solar masses.
