アブストラクト This paper presents the seismic response of 20-story building with viscous dampers considering the performance decrement under long-period ground motion by using three analysis methods, including story drift angle, absolute acceleration, absorbed energy of individual viscous damper, the absorbed energy of total viscous dampers, the damping energy of structure, and the energy distribution rate of dampers. The three analysis methods, conventional method, simplified method, and detailed method, were also assessed. The simplified method is the most valuable amongst the three methods. Two types of viscous dampers are evaluated by using energy density and decrease rate, medium capacity dampers and large capacity dampers. The performance decrement of large volume dampers are less than medium capacity dampers. In addition, the story drift is the larger, the decrease rate is the smaller.
