When subjected to excessive seismic motion, high-rise buildings are at a high risk of experiencing inter-story collapse. Incorporating steel plate shear walls into the building can mitigate this risk by preventing damage concentration. However, the influence of wall width and thickness on the effect of preventing damage concentration has been analyzed only qualitatively for each structural design of the building. This study investigates the influence of steel plate shear walls on the effect of preventing damage concentration through static and dynamic numerical simulations on a three-dimensional framework model.
